*Results may vary. Power as tested on 2016 Golf R Manual using these identical calibrations. Generally speaking, the 91 octane calibration has a richer fuel curve and a less aggressive ignition advance map to help compensate for 91 octane fuel and/or less than ideal atmospheric conditions. The map designed for 93 octane is the most aggressive.

Simple Installation:  Everything is included for the simple installation!  Intuitive on-screen instructions identify your exact vehicle and available maps.

Volkswagen Specific Features:

Adjustable Traction Control: Adjust target traction slip on the fly (Slots 1-8) and maximize tire grip to best suit given track conditions (wet/damp/dry/street/slip/burnout/etc). Note: Feature must be enabled in ECU calibration for use.

Flat Foot Shift: Improve shift times and keep boost built during shifts. Flat Foot Shifting can hold engine RPM at a set RPM between 3000-8000 RPM during shifting. This feature is enabled in COBB OTS maps.

Launch Control: Adjust Launch Control on the fly with 6 pre-configured RPM slots to dial in launch based on track conditions and vehicle configuration. Enabled in OTS Maps and configurable within Accesstuner Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been using the AP for the past few weeks Worked my way up the Stg 1 maps one by one to the Stg 1 93 High Boost map. It makes a big difference compared to stock. Faster response and stronger pulls. All driving modes are better. If you are concerned about impact to MPG, I tested driving conservatively and gas mileage is unchanged from stock as near as I can tell. If you push it, it seems to use slightly more but this is hard to quantify. I use the gauges all the time as well as the code checking(none have surfaced so far) and also ran the performance timers as well. Everything works as advertised and overall I am very satisfied. I would love to see some updates on the Stg 1 maps to see if more power/torque can be squeezed out. After initial flash(~20mins), subsequent ones load very fast (couple minutes).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Necessity for the Golf R I've wanted this since i got my Golf R. I felt the car was always lacking a little bit of power and this is exactly the boost that it needed. In a few years I'd love to go stage 2 and this is amazing that i can flash it right from home. After downloading stage 1 I drove around a few blocks in sport mode and could feel the power difference when I tapped the gas. Not to mention that all of the gauges are very cool and I love looking at them. My only real complaint so far is that the 0-60 timer is not accurate at all, i did a launch and it timed 8.5 seconds which was definitely wrong. It felt faster than all my stock launches and I'd guess it was low 4's. Not a huge deal, but just a little annoying. Overall, great product, and a must-buy for any R owner. I hope to go stage 2 with COBB in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Golf R Mk7.5 Best thing is you can flash based on your reasoning for driving. Power when you want. Economy when you want. I was torn between APR vs COBB... the level of control at no added cost is worth its weight in gold. Driving around on stage 3 during rush hour isn’t worth it... pointless... but on a saturday when I want to have a cheap thrill a three min flash turn my car from a commuter to a beast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased I bought this for my 2016 R manual. I am running the stage 1 93 octane high boost map. Installation was very simple, and the added power is immediately apparent. This is my 4th Cobb AP. I had one with a 2004 Forester XT, a 2008 WRX, a 2012 STI, and now the Golf R. Nothing negative to report on any of those platforms. Cobb does excellent work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2019 Golf R Stage 1 93 Octane - ECU only review Well, I have flashed over a dozen cars now with Cobb APs. The 19 Golf R is one you can feel with a swell of power. A very nice boost for a simple Stage 1 OTS. The DSG handles the new power fine so far with no hunting for gears and making odd shifts. Also there is no real aggressive throttle mapping either, so the car still takes off with a little delay that all factory Golf Rs do. But most of that will be handled once the DSG tunes are available. But, after the slight OEM delay, the new swell of torque is well worth the money. The needles move much faster and you have bang thru gears a little bit quicker. Very happy for sure. I cant wait for the DSG tunes, knowing what Cobb will do to help the car be a bit sharper. But the stage 1 is almost a no brainer for any Golf R owner, and it only adds to the experience with no detractors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent All Around Alright, I have a 2018 Golf R I purchased the Cobb V3 for my specific car. from the box its easy and user friendly, the whole flash took about 30 minutes. I flashed my car with the 91 High Boost once finished i used the cobb module as a boost gauge (i was not planning on keeping the module plugged in, but it does look very nice) Stock boost (from the Car dash is 32psi ((roughly))) to get the actual boost you have to subtract 14.7 so that gives you roughly around 15 psi of boost THIS IS STOCK BOOST with the tune (and using the cobb boost controller) i peaked at 21.3 psi of boost. that's a decent 6 PSI the throttle response was very nice and you can some difference in pull. Over all, I would look into getting your car ready for a stage 2 tune, but to open the car up more and have it more respectful this is a good product to purchase

There are so many metrics you can monitor and of course different OTC tune maps and custom tuning options to check out that I've really only scratched the surface. BUT I've really enjoying playing with it thus far. Stage 1 high boost is a nice pick-me-up from stock and has gotten me excited to do more.
