Description

The popular COBB Subaru Rear Shifter Stay Bushing kit is the final piece of the puzzle to eliminating excessive shifter compliance in the factory setup. The Rear Shifter Stay Bushing is a direct replacement for the soft rubber bushing found at the back of the shifter assembly. This upgraded bushing greatly improves the feel of the shifter by reducing side-to-side and front-to-back compliance (slop) found in the stock shifter mechanism caused by soft rubber bushings. This bushing is made from 85A durometer urethane and comes with everything needed for an easy installation with simple hand tools. Works on both 5-speed and 6-speed Subaru manual transmissions. Made in the USA.

Why?

This shifter bushing upgrade is a perfect addition to a short shifter upgrade. Short shifters reduce shifter throw and can lower shift knob height, making shifting precision more critical. The COBB Rear Shifter Stay bushing kit improves shifting precision and feel when used with a short shifter.

Subaru Rear Shifter Bushing is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from great once installed I gave this a 1-star rating for the incorrect design for my car. Nonetheless, taken together with the front shifter bushing, this is a great product, but the installation will make you cry. I am not alone in experiencing the problems that I encountered (google it). The two holes that the bolts go through are parallel in the bushing design, however, on the stock bushing and on the car, the holes to screw into are NOT parallel, but inward facing. There is no bending the bushing to comply (which speaks to the quality of the bushing). I was really frustrated at how difficult this seemingly simple install should have been and confused as to how little attention to this major detail was overlooked. there are different methods, but here is mine: -Remove one of the metal barrels to give more lateral play so bolt goes in at an angle. -Install bushing and drive for ~250 miles. -Bolt hole now has more play. Reinstall metal barrel and bushing and bring install to completion!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh Just finished installing. Gotta say the quality is great, the fitment is terrible. Like the other reviewers stated, the bolt holes in the bushing should be angled instead of straight through. I ended up using die grinder to slightly angle the bushing holes were the sleeves go through, also had to grind 1/8" off the top due to pinch weld interference. Not sure if I would purchase again. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great feel I got to admit it's a tight fit, but it's a matter of using the right tool. Installed the first bolt using wrench and socket, but only managed to install the second bolt by using screwdriver with hex socket and finishing it off with wrench. But apart from scratched arms, everything is fine :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product, nice feel install horrible. Bought the product after watching the install video thinking hey this will be quick and easy. well 3 1/2 hours later and after removing the center consul I got it put in. if you have a 2015 be aware the video is wrong. They show a nut your supposed to to take off but on the 15 its a bolt and is to long to take out without taking apart the whole shifter assembly. Besides that the shift feels great!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best one so far I have had the kartboy And the perrin. So on the third wrx i decided to go with the cobb. This linkage stay coupled with the beatrush shifter bushing is the best combo you can have if you want a "nice shift, know your in gear" type of feel. And i have heard people say that its not made right... Come on, its cobb. Chances are they did their home work. Good job COBB, another great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low on money, high on time? This is your mod This combined with the front bushings transform this shifter to something Subaru should be ashamed of how much better Cobb designed these parts. Great feel, install was tough, tons of wrong info in install instructions, most of the (6spd only) text applied to my 5spd 2011 wrx (heat shield, 02, etc) Hands down the best bang for your buck mod on at least a 2011 wrx

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT FIT AND FEELS GREAT I bought them last week. Just installed them and the install was tight but got them in there pretty easy. Can really feel the difference with it combined with my front shift bushing as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much Stiffer Shifting Purchased this bad boy with the front bushings and have loved every moment of driving since. This is so much beefier than the stock rear bushing, definitely a worthy upgrade.
