2015-2021 WRX CVT NexGen Power Packages

Big announcement for our Subaru fam today!  We are excited to bring our revised “NexGen” Power Packages and accompanying Off The Shelf Maps to the 2015-2021 WRX CVT.  We previously released these same power packages and OTS maps for 2015-2021 6MT WRX and have since been able to confirm their feasibility on cars equipped with Subaru’s CVT transmission.

NexGen Stage 2 Power Packages for 2015-2021 Subaru WRX CVT

In our never ending strive to provide additional upgrade options for owners of these vehicles, the Subaru Experts here at COBB took to our dyno to define our emissions compliant, NexGen Stage 2 Power Package utilizing products from our catalog that have an existing CARB Executive Order (EO) or have a known path towards obtaining one. What came as a result of extensive testing on the dyno, street, and even several trips to our local track are NexGen Power Packages which provide impressive power gains over the existing Stage 1 level.

These NexGen Power Packages and OTS Maps are 50 State Legal, Emissions Compliant and have an Executive Order from CARB.  Stage 2 NexGen OTS Maps are available to download off our website and on current Firmware on the Accessport (AP3-SUB-004).

Power Gains

The question you’re likely all curious about is how much power this combination is capable of while retaining the factory j-pipe and cat configuration. We’re happy to say that this package and OTS combination does provide meaningful power gains over existing Stage 1 and Stage 1+Intake. Most importantly, this power increase is both reliable and repeatable with the increased cooling efficiency of the COBB Top Mount Intercooler. Boost control is also more precise and consistent with the addition of the COBB 3-Port EBCS.

*Note, power gains are measured on a 6MT WRX.

These packages are offered in four different flavors but contain the same core components and are capable of achieving the same power levels. Each kit includes an Accessport (SUB-004), Intake (either Big SF or Redline), Top Mount Intercooler (Black or Silver), Charge Pipe, and Electronic Boost Control Solenoid.

    • Hey Andrew! We do not offer an Off The Shelf map that is compatible with those parts. You would need to speak with one of our Protuners about having a custom tune created specific to your car’s mechanical configuration.

    • We are in the midst of developing a calibration for what will become our “Stage 2 Power Package” for the 2022 WRX. Once that has been finalized and emissions tested we will have a better idea of a release timeline.

  1. When can we expect a cobb access port for the australian cvt , and would i be able to run the us one without issues on my australian cvt 2016 wrx

  2. Hello, I have a question regarding the SUBARU NEXGEN STAGE 2 POWER PACKAGE (SF INTAKE) WRX 2015-2021 (SILVER). I have a 2015 Subaru wrx cvt used 66k miles. I don’t plan on doing anything crazy it’s a a cvt I just want a little more power. My questions are
    1. I was wondering if I can go stage 2 and if it was safe to run this on my car.
2 will adding a cvt cooler be okay?
    3. Will adding a muffler delete be safe?
4 how much hp am I looking to get?
4 does the acessport come With a stage 2 tune for the cvt?

I plan on using 93 octane.

    • Hey Mike!

As long as your WRX CVT is in good mechanical condition, you shouldn’t have any concerns installing our NexGen Stage2 Power Package and using the supporting Off The Shelf (OTS) Map, included on the Accessport. A CVT cooler is not required and our development cars have actually never had one installed. I wouldn’t expect CVT temperatures to be of concern if you are just doing casual street driving with occasional spirited driving. That said, if you plan to track the car at all one may be beneficial. Tuning changes are NOT required for changes to the cat-back exhaust, including muffler deletes. You can see power gains as measured on a 6MT car above. Figures will be slightly lower across the board for CVT cars, including baseline.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions!
