Hard Parts Engineering Intern

Reports To: Hard Parts Engineering Lead – COBB Tuning Products, LLC

Summary:

COBB Tuning Products is based in Austin, TX and is looking for a Hard Parts Engineering Intern. We are a rapidly growing company with a substantial engineering team.  We are seeking a candidate who would be excited about being a part of the COBB team and has a strong desire to contribute to our success while learning about real world engineering.  We are looking for a creative problem solver with a strong work ethic and well demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment. 
Requirements:

  • High School Graduate
  • Currently enrolled in a 2-4 year technical (engineering) degree program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must have the right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Job location will be in Austin, TX
  • Available to work a minimum of 15 Hours/Week

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in updating existing products with new features
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM’s)
  • Create and/or maintain updated drawings for existing products
  • Maintain and update instruction manuals for existing products
  • Assist with new hard parts product development
  • Work with in-house manufacturing (CNC machining and metal processing) to optimize current product designs, and to collaboratively establish design for manufacturability standards

Software Engineer

Maintain and develop COBB software products - Accessport device firmware, complimentary software products deployed to customers, and utilities used internally to support and maintain all software products.

We are looking for a seasoned software engineer to design, develop and support software applications for automotive tuning. Ideal experience will include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, CE, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of professional software development
  • GUI development using any existing tool kit such as Qt, WTL.
  • Development experience in both Windows and Mac OS.
  • Experience integrating and incorporating multiple systems and applications.
  • Proficiency with C/C++ and Object-oriented programming

Candidates must also have the following:

  • Ability to problem-solve and provide high quality solutions
  • Ability to debug outside of conventional IDEs and debuggers
  • Good communication skills, and the ability to contribute as an individual in a team setting

The following are desired but not required:

  • Automobile engine operation and tuning fundamentals
  • Linux and/or Windows drivers
  • Scripting languages
  • STL, boost, or similar libraries

Junior Software Engineer

Entry-level development position, an opportunity to transform academic engineering skills into practical development skills.

The role offers the opportunity to play a key role in the support, development and evolution of products. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develops and tests software implementation with guidance from project lead and other engineering staff.
  • Works with other team members to increase knowledge and understanding of broader areas of product or component functionality, architecture, standard routines, development frameworks and debugging practices.

Candidates must also have the following:

  • Shows an aptitude for new skills, such as new development languages, platforms, or production/component feature areas
  • Familiar with object oriented design. Proficient in C++ or similar Object Oriented programming language.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: GUI programming, STL/Boost Libraries, Mult-threading.

Junior Electrical Engineer

Senior Software-Firmware Engineer

Plan, design and carry out projects and products related to COBB AccessPORT handheld device and peripheral software. Work with a team of talented engineers. Analyzes and assists management on scheduling and meeting deadlines. Ensures projects are developed as designed/specified and drives projects to completion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in EE, CS, CE, or equivalent.
  • 7+ professional software/firmware development experience.
  • Has broad understanding of technology or product area related to our product lines, and can quickly understand other areas to provide useful, relevant feedback regarding issues, interactions, and development directions.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple release cycles and products, showing clear understanding of all phases of the product life cycle.
  • Understands the product cycle and the tradeoffs between schedules, cost and quality. Knows how to assess risks.
  • Can come up with creative/innovative ideas in many aspects of software engineering, including but not limited to: solving problems, enhancing features, streamlining workflow, or improving quality of our products.
  • Carries out work with minimal supervision and modify methods to resolve unforeseen situations and problems.
  • Ability to compose technical writing (functional spec, use case analysis, etc.) that conveys concepts effectively.
  • Good personal time management skills.

Strong candidates may also possess one or more of the following skills and experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of COBB products.

ECU Reverse Engineer

Be a part of the team that leads the automotive aftermarket in understanding factory engine management systems.

Applicable candidates must have the following:

  • Ability to break down very large, complex problems into manageable tasks

CNC Machinist-Full-Time

COBB Tuning, a high-performance automotive engineering company based in Austin, TX, is looking for a CNC Machinist. Our growing manufacturing division is seeking a detail orientated individual who takes great pride in their work and exceeds our customer's expectations through the quality and precision of the components they produce. They will be joining a small, close-nit team operating modern Mori Seiki and DMG machining centers.

Job Purpose: This is a full-time CNC Machinist position for COBB Tuning in Austin, Texas. Duties will include:

  • Set-up and machining of precision components
  • Editing or creating programs
  • Safely operating CNC turning and milling machines
  • Inspecting first-run and in-process parts
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies

Skill Requirements:

  • 2-5 years experience in basic programming, editing, set-up and operating CNC machines for precision parts
  • Experience with 3+ axis CNC Vertical Mills and CNC Lathes with Live Tooling
  • Read and understand GCode/measuring equipment
  • Previous experience with conversational controls - Siemens & FANUC
  • Mastercam experience a plus
  • Solidworks experience a plus
  • CNC Tube Bending experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 75 lbs
  • Continuous manual agility required

COBB Tuning, a high-performance automotive engineering company based in Austin, TX, is looking for a warehouse shipping and receiving clerk. We are looking for a detail oriented person capable of working in a high-paced work environment. You are the last person in line to our customers and will need to ensure our customers get exactly what they ordered, shipped as they requested, so we can continue astonish our customers.

Job Purpose:

This is a full-time warehouse shipping and receiving clerk position for COBB Tuning in Austin, Texas. Duties will include: receiving, checking counts and QC'ing in-bound packages, pulling and packaging outbound shipments, cleaning and organizing work stations in preparation for the next day's workload, organizing, sweeping, and cleaning warehouse aisles, and assisting with cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Able to lift 60 lbs
  • Able to operate stand-up and/or standard forklift (having a current forklift certification is ideal)
  • Willing to work some Saturdays as needed and willing to work flexible schedule that may include some overtime during our busy season.
  • PC computer skills, shipping software (FedEx, UPS, UPSP) familiarity needed

Technician

Position Overview:  To deliver exceptional customer service to the customer and ensure the ability to diagnose and repair vehicles per customer requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs as written on the repair order for proper servicing of vehicles.
  • Diagnose appropriate repair from concerns customers may have as noted on the repair order written by advisor.
  • Diagnose and repair aftermarket vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, etc…
  • Responsible for verification of repairs by test drive.
