COBB Tuning entered the 2010 Redline Time Attack series and took home the Modified AWD Championship, Street Tire AWD Championship and won the inaugural Redline Time Attack Team of the Year Award! COBB Tuning Motorsports fielded a three car Accessport powered racing team consisting of the mighty COBB Nissan GT-R in the Modified AWD class, the COBB Subaru STI in the Street Tire AWD class and the COBB Nissan 370Z in select Enthusiast RWD events.
The COBB Tuning Motorsports team attended nine of the ten events on the 2010 calendar, traveling from coast to coast to compete for championship titles. Pro driver Brian Lock piloted the 2010 Nissan GT-R in the Modified class with great success. SCCA Regional wheel-man Cameron Benner drove the 2006 Subaru STI and took his skills to the next level while battling it out in the Street Tire class. Amateur driver and owner of COBB Tuning, Trey Cobb, got behind the wheel at several events in the 2009 Nissan 370Z in the Enthusiast class, showing that COBB Tuning is passionate about motorsports from the top down.
The COBB Tuning Time Attack team was staffed entirely by COBB Tuning employees. Tim Bailey, Senior R&D Tuner at COBB Tuning, was responsible for the team's multiple engine programs and tuned all three racecars using the COBB Tuning Accessport. Head technicians from the COBB Tuning Surgeline and COBB Tuning Austin facilities filled the roles as Car Chiefs for each race car. Employees from engineering, customer support, marketing, sales, research and development and fabrication got the exciting opportunity to rotate through positions in the team, gaining first hand experience and developing new skills that they brought back to their teams to apply to the work they do at COBB Tuning.
All told, this potent combination of racecars, drivers and team members racked up 10 class wins, 17 top three podium finishes, two overall event wins, two class championships and several track records! In addition to the victories won on the track, the COBB crew distinguished themselves in the paddock. COBB Tuning was truly honored to win the inaugural Redline Time Attack Team of the Year Award, for "showing dedication to sportsmanship in the pits and towards their fellow teams and drivers".
