Description

This C.A.R.B. approved intake (2010+ pending) and integrated airbox looks great and has the combined benefits of a short ram intake and a cold air intake without any of the negatives. This system utilizes several unique features in an effort to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management problems. From a custom conical cloth air-filter element, we use a CFD-designed velocity stack leading to an unique air flow straightener grid. This straightener grid is specifically designed to smooth the incoming air flow as it passes the Mass Air Flow sensor for precise readings. This eliminates the "dead spots" experienced by other aftermarket intakes due to turbulence. No other aftermarket Subaru intake system utilizes these critical design elements. In order to provide a system that looks as good on the outside as the technical advancements happening on the inside, we utilize a one piece design constructed from a high temperature plastic composite. Not only does this save weight compared to the previous metal design, the plastic composite material offers much better heat rejection properties that help keep intake air temperatures cooler. In contrast, intake systems constructed using metal castings or piping can actually retain underhood heat and in turn heat the incoming air. The SF Air Box adds the benefits of a cold air intake to the outstanding performance of the SF Intake. The factory inlet directs cold air from the front grill to the SF Air, which encloses the SF intake. Hot engine bay air that robs horsepower is prevented from entering the intake system. This unique design also separates rainwater from the intake air, eliminating the water ingestion issues that plague in-fender cold air intakes. Calibrations All aftermarket intakes for 08+ Subarus require tuning in order to ensure the MAF sensor reads properly and the engine operates within safe parameters. COBB Tuning has you covered with Off-The-Shelf Maps for the Accessport, making it as easy as install, flash and go! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product and Customer Service Like always, Cobb has absolutely amazing customer service with all of their products. After receiving this in the mail, I noticed that the MAF bracket was missing so I gave them a call and they had it overnight shipped, no questions asked with a nice apology. The overall install of this was under a hour with no problems at all, the youtube install video is pretty good for step by step directions. After install and new map tuned through the AP (YES, you absolutely have to tune your vehicle after installing this) you can definitely feel a little bit of gains over just a regular stage 1 map. And like everyone else has stated, it sounds absolutely amazing when driving - i rarely even have the stereo on when i am driving now :). I do feel it is really important to mention that with the 08-14 WRX models(not STI) - everyone should really get familiar with the boost leak issues that may incur when upgrading boost levels above stock. The 08-14 stock intercooler, bpv and intercooler to throttle bottle hose have all been known to have issues, even some strait from the factory. All of these have been talked about on all the wrx forums, so do your research and possibly be prepared to have to put in some extra wrench time. My suggestion to anyone that is just starting off is to just install the AP first and run some date logs and send them to the Cobb guys for analysis - just to make sure you are running good numbers from the begging and then go from there with the install of the Sf Intake. Cobb's tech support is always really good about telling you what you need to know so dont hesitate to ask questions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from so so I was really excited to purchase this mod, but became frustrated when following the online tutorial, and finding out that apparently my air box did not come with enough of the rubber edge, and it left me wondering why that can't simply come already on the air box instead of rigged up way of cutting the edges to make it fit, just to discover there wasn't even enough supplied to cover all the edges the video said to. I know most people may like how it sounds and I might have about 6 years ago but now its a little much for an everyday driver. overall not impressed, I'm going to give it a week or so and then probably re instal the stock intake

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Painless install, great results After reading about this intake on forums and in reviews I knew that it was going to be quality and fit my needs perfectly. After watching how-to videos I knew it was going to be easy and straightforward to install. What I didn't expect was just how easy it would be to install (I'm far from skilled with a wrench) and how much I would enjoy the results. Cobb fitment of their products is second to none which made the install a breeze and with a quick reflash of the ECU with the Accessport I was off cruising around and enjoying the fruits of my labor. If you take your time and do it right the whole process will still take you less than 30 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the intake I put this on my 08 WRX and I love it. The sound is fantastic and I could feel a immediate increase in throttle response and power and my avg mpg went up about 2 miles per gallon during normal driving. This was well worth it and saves me a little in gas. I recommend this to anyone looking for a aftermarket cold air intake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2013 subaru wrx, sf intake & box This intake is very simple to install and sounds amazing (basically sounds like you have a bov). Just make sure you have the cobb accessport for the stage 1 tune or the intake can damage your engine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Running Stage 1 with AccessPort. You can really hear the air being sucked in and a deep growl from under the hood. Throttle response is much better and I feel a slight surge in HP/Torque. Couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This intake rocks! Had to wait and get mine since this intake was on back order. Definitely worth the wait. The installation instructions were very easy to follow. The installation looks great, the exhaust note is a bit more pronounced now. The turbo noise is a bit more noticeable as well. I've also noticed that my fuel economy has improved a bit as well. Definitely a worth while upgrade. Besides, it looks awesome!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Impressed Have had this intake on for a month with the cobb map on access port...noticed significant lose of power..yes throttle response is quicker but HP lose is huge....also runs at 104-109F at idle!!!! Way to hot for a intake.....going back to stock,,,,this item really needs a review for a 2012 STI as it obviously hasn't been tested properly for air flow and gains....just my opinion..go downpipe and leave the rest stock....waste of money for a noise maker is all it does....no gains in HP, maybe wheel spin that doesn't much matter on a AWD if i wanted wheel spin would have bought a chevy or rear wheel car...LOL
