Stage 1 Flash on 2008 WRX sedan May 17, 2013
Reviewer: James Hicks from San Antonio, TX United States
I recently purchased the AccessPort for my 2008 WRX sedan MT. The vehicle is completely stock.

It arrived in a few days and the installation was a piece of cake. Flashing the ECU was simple and quick. It was really plug and play.

When I took it on its first two power runs I was impressed. Before the reflash the power would begin to taper off at the top of the power band, probably around 5500-6200 prm. Now with the stage 1 upgrade using 93 octane the power is much better. Mid range torque is awesome but the most noticeable, surprising and likeable benefit is the top end power. This car pulls hard to red, and I mean HARD! It was still accelerating in the 6000k rpm range. So much for the stock power dip. Frankly, shifting seemed better too.

This was a worth while investment. I can't wait to get an intake, down pipe and exhaust to place the stage 2 + reflash on it. I HIGHLY recommend investing in COBB's products!

Just. Wow. April 24, 2013
Reviewer: Eric Abruzzese from Shippensburg, PA United States
Words cannot express the difference that flashing the OTS Stage 1 tune made to the way my 2013 STI Hatchback drives. Without exaggeration, I can absolutely say that it feels like a completely different car.

Acceleration is one of the most noticeable differences. First through fourth gear is nothing but smooth, white-knuckle acceleration that left my heart racing the first time I experienced it -- and I was only going 90mph on an on-ramp. The power band feels like butter. It's indescribably smooth.

It changes some other, more minor aspects of the way the car drives too -- it feels like it needs a bit more gas to get going, but launches feel smoother, and overall the car is more responsive (especially in S# mode).

Note that I am not a car enthusiast. That said, I can absolutely recommend that anyone with a WRX or STI, enthusiast or not, get one of these. It'll make you love your car that much more.

Best thing to buy! April 19, 2013
Reviewer: Brian Rejman from Libertyville, IL United States
So I just picked up the accessport for my 2008 wrx hatchback and I love it! I dont know how i went so long without having one before. It is so easy to use and the power increase is amazing. I also have the Cobb SF intake and what was nice is that the map for it was already installed on the accessport. This is a must buy for any car in my opinion.

Accessport and COBB customer service April 12, 2013
Reviewer: wraven23 from Elmer City, WA United States
I'm a COBB (since 2003) and WRX/STI fan.

My 2008 STI 5-door was running an AP map for Stage 1.  Night and day better hp/tq with no add'l mods!

I traded the '08 for an '11 4 dr, but
I forgot to unmarry the AP from the '08.

COBB customer support (Shayne Covey) advised me to send in the AP and car deal docs to reset the AP.

Within a 3 weeks I had my AP back and married it to my '11. The 91 oct. gas map works just fine with no more mods at Stage 1.

My gas mileage is better, even in the Sport # setting.  Car's rated at 23 mpg hwy.  My avg. is 24 mpg in mixed driving. On road trips, my avg is 26 mpg.

Next in line:  the COBB downpipe and the short flow air intake and box.

Thanks COBB (esp. Shayne Covey) for providing many miles of driving pleasure.

Some say you're too expensive--I say you get what you pay for.  I'm thinking my Accessport has paid for itself just in fuel savings alone.

Saaaalute! to COBB for great products and service!

Accessport on 2010 FXT April 8, 2013
Reviewer: john s from Chicago area, US
Install took literally 5 minutes from opening the package to finishing the stage 1 upload.
The new 93 octane stage 1 map provides a noticeable increase in torque under hard acceleration, but normal driving seems to be the same.  As one other reviewer put it, don't get the Accessport unless you are ready to get the downpipe soon after- exactly what I did.  Took all of two days.
Carl in customer service was great: helpful, knowledgeable, and no pressure.
FYI-- typical standard map accel 0-60 were 6.8-6.9 seconds, with stage 1 loaded, first run was 6.4, but this was in standard mode and traction control on, average with sport mode transmission and traction control off was 6.2 with ~2500 rpm brake torque for one second.  The best run, 6.1 sec, ironically, was on wet pavement.
To sum up:  You'll notice the difference with stage 1.  And given how easy the install is, you'll probably want stage 2 (the downpipe) soon afterwards.  You've been warned.  :-)
