Ford Explorer ST Accessport Support!

Black Explorer ST

Life Just Got A Whole Lot Faster!

Ford’s Explorer ST is one seriously raunchy family hauler. Coupling a 10-speed 10R60 automatic transmission with Ford’s newest 3.0L Ecoboost twin-turbocharged engine, this three-row beast pumps out 400 horsepower and 415 torque, enough to get the big body from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds flat…. in stock form. And as every enthusiast knows….stock is boring. As always, we’ve replaced that boring stock tune plagued by flat power spots and erratic shifting with a tune worth bragging about. With our COBB Accessport, the power has increased, the torque hits and holds like a freight train and the shifting behavior is smoothed out in all drive modes. All you need is the AP3-FOR-012 and just a few minutes and you can turn your everyday SUV into the meanest grocery getter in your neighborhood.

The Accessport V3 is the world’s best selling, most flexible ECU tuning solution for every platform and now it’s available for Ford. Unlock power hidden within the vehicle by replacing conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations. Upgrade forever with included off-the-shelf (OTS) calibrations and the ability to custom tune for most bolt-on modifications via Accesstuner Pro. It’s the last engine management solution you’ll ever need.  Installation takes just 6 minutes from the comfort of your own garage or driveway.  Simply connect the included OBDII cable to your Explorer ST’s OBDII port and follow the intuitive on-screen instructions.

Off The Shelf Maps & Power Gains

Included in the Accessport, also available for download on our website, are our COBB Off The Shelf (OTS) Maps.  These files are generated by our COBB Calibration Team for otherwise stock cars.  Components like replacement air filters for the stock airbox and exhaust components that retain factory catalytic converters are safe to use with these OTS Maps. The Stage0 file does not increase power as it retains all factory calibration data but provides the ability to utilize all of the other Accessport functions, such as data monitoring and logging.

Our Stage 1 files are aimed at really taking advantage of what Ford has left on the table.  With increased boost pressure and more aggressive timing/fueling curves, and much more, we are able to produce a significant increase in both low end torque as well as top end power. With the Ford Explorer, the ECU and TCM (Transmission Control Module) are a singular combined unit similar to the 2021+ Gen3 Raptor and F150 models meaning our tunes will also have the ability to improve the transmission’s shift points, engagement, and overall smooth out the harsh behavior customers have come to loathe.

  1. When will Accesstuner be available for this? Also, any chance that the great Cobb Custom Features that made Cobb so great in previous years will be made available as well? Other tuners have similar functionality.

    • Hey Joe!

We do not currently have plans to release end-user Accesstuner for the Explorer ST but our Accesstuner Pro software is already available to our expansive network of COBB Protuners. We do already offer a handful of COBB Custom Features for the Explorer ST, is there one you’re looking for in particular?

  2. Are there plans for on-the-fly map switching? My Focus ST benefits greatly when I’m in areas of the country where 93 Octane is scarce and I have to drop down to 91 Octane. I’m planning on getting this for my Explorer for sure and that would be a great time saver on long trips.

  3. Well, no Accesstuner for the end-user is a big disappointment, so I’ll stay with my current software/hardware. Looks like the EPA crackdown is pushing Trey Cobb away from his original business plan to support the independent tuners. I’ve been tuning my own with Cobb since 2007, so this development is a huge letdown.

    • Hey Philip,

The Stage 1 map for 87 octane fuel is dialed back pretty far and really doesn’t make any more power than stock. Unfortunately, 87 octane fuel is not very detonation resistant so we see quite a bit of knock on the factory tune.
