COBB Ford Bronco Intake Upgrade

A Breath of Fresh Air In The Open Outdoors

Ford’s announcement of the return of the fan favorite Bronco model sent the internet and enthusiast world into a frenzy in 2020 and gave off-road buyers an arguably superior alternative to the ever-tiring but cult classic Jeep Wrangler from FCA. With offering all of the features you could ever want while navigating off-road terrain and enough power to not feel lethargic on when driving in daily life, Ford had a real winner on their hands. But even great things can be better and the lure of off-road enthusiasts is to keep modifying and building on a great platform to conquer even more terrain!

In that spirit, we are happy to release our own upgraded intake for the 2.3L & 2.7L Ford Bronco models, the COBB Intake System (PN: 7R1100)

Incorporated into this upgraded intake kit for your Ford Bronco, is a bespoke filter design meant to increase overall airflow while still giving the beautiful aesthetics and usability in any driving condition whether that’s mall-crawling or true offroad desert races. This filter was designed to permit very high flow rates, minimize restriction, maximize filtration for years to come while using a proprietary woven cotton and metal mesh with a precision molded rubber base and top to seal the ends and promote maximum suction through the media.

Give Me The Data

With our design for the COBB Intake System for Ford Bronco complete, we were able to perform an analysis using our in-house FlowBench of our intake system, using each lid, and proprietary filter compared to the stock setup and were able to see some serious increases. Here’s a data chart of that comparison and as you can see, the factory intake saw a minimal pressure drop at lower CFM, but as that increases (correlating to an increase in boost pressure) the pressure drop becomes pretty significant. With both the sealed clear polycarbonate window and the aluminum mesh open-air window, those pressure drops seen on the factory intake end up improving significantly. In the peak range of the factory turbo for the 2.3L for example, our testing was seeing a flow increase of ~9% with the sealed clear window and around ~21% with the open air aluminum grated option.
