New APM, Who Dis?

Today we released an update to our Accessport Manager program to version 3.1.10 to incorporate some new and upcoming features and quality of life improvements. With this specific update, it is not possible to use the built-in updater to jump versions so you’ll need to use the following links to download the latest installer for your specific operating system:

So What Exactly Is New?

Improved Messaging When Transferring Maps

With APM 3.1.10, we’ve improved messaging related to manually copying over maps onto a device that has already been installed to a vehicle. Previously if a new tune file was based on a later CCF generation, like in the case with 2015-2021 WRX where we’ve gone from CCF Gen1 to CCF Gen2, or when transferring a map pack that contains multiple iterations of the same map to cover all ROM variants, you would have been greeted with a message stating that “xx of these maps did not match the vehicle the Accessport is installed to” which can obviously lead to some confusion and unnecessary worry.

But now with the latest version of Accessport Manager, the messaging simply asks you to confirm that you’re wanting to manually place those maps on the device regardless of the currently installed vehicle identifier.

Datalog Compression For More Room

As vehicles and ECUs get newer and more complex, they tend to have more parameters to monitor at a refreshing rate higher than their predecessors which causes the file size of datalogs to swell exponentially. With all things in life, there is obviously a limit when it comes to file storage so to help alleviate and soften that limit, we’ve implemented a new datalog compression feature.
This will show up as a new file type, csv.gz, that significantly reduces the amount of space needed. This means you can collect many more datalogs than before without hitting a “1014 error” that correlates to running out of space. With his new file type, these datalogs take up very little room on the device’s storage disk and whenever a user downloads them to their computer using Accessport Manager, it is saved as a standard and accessible csv file that can be used by any viewer program.

In order to also assist users, we will also be adding the ability to manage and delete datalogs right from the Accessport itself, no computer required! This update will come as a per platform, per part number updates are pushed out in the coming weeks and months. To use this, simply go into the Troubleshooting menu followed by selecting “File Management” then “Manage Datalogs”. From here you can go through and select which datalogs you want to delete and once you’ve selected all the logs you want to get rid of, press the left/exit button on the Accessport along with a success confirmation message.

  1. I have a new 2024 MacBook Air M3 and the Accessport will not connect with a USB-C to Micro B cable. The MacBook only has USB-C ports. Will you be updating the OSX software to recognize USB-C connections?

    • Hi there! This is the first we’ve heard of that configuration not working. As long as the cable is a data transfer cable and not for charging-only, it should work. Can you send us a link to the specific cable you are using? We have a couple of people here with 2024 M3 Pro MacBooks so we’ll order some cables and give it a look!


    • Hey Jeff, just wanted to follow-up on this as I was able to order some USB-C to Mirco USB cables to test and confirm everything functions as expected on my M3 Pro MacBook. If you’re still having issues, give our Customer Service Team a shout and we’ll get you sorted out.


  2. The new software does not let you marry access ports, my buddy tried to marry one to his car and got a fatal error so we in married mine and updated it and now I can flash my tune back on the car

    • That’s definitely odd and not something we would expect to occur. Have you or your buddy reached out to our Customer Service Team yet? I can’t find anything from your email address about this.


  3. I have used the provided links to update to APM 3.1.10 for my AP V3 SUB04 but my AP is still showing AP3-SUB-004 v1.7.4.2-24844, 2018 USDM WRX MT COBB Custom Features Gen2 – the older update from February. How do I get it to update to Gen3 CCF and firmware that was just released 5/15/24

    • Hi Tim! The info you are looking at is indicating the map file that is flashed to the car. In order to update, you must have a map file based on that new ECU type (CCF Gen3). You can either flash one of our OTS maps or have a Protuner create a custom tune for you based on that ECU type.


  4. Still can’t remove p0420 even when green compliant with full catted system. Fix that first or give us all refunds!

    • If you’re encountering a P0420, the catalyst in your exhaust is simply not sufficient. We will not allow disabling of DTCs associated to emissions components.


  5. Last time I used my ap everything was formatted in a PDF file. Now everything is switched over to a gz file. Is there anything I can do to switch back to PDF? Thank you

    • Hey Jack! The .gz format is our new compressed format for data logs. Once you have decompressed those files you will be able to use the .csv file just as before.


  6. I’m only running 10.4.16 OS X but I don’t see a version for that system. How do I check which version of Accessport Manager I’m currently running? Is it possible to run my AP on the mac at work?

    • Hi Nick! We have not tested compatibility with that OS X version, but current APM is likely not compatible.
