The Volkswagen Big SF Intake System for the 2010-2014 GTI is constructed of full 3" aluminum tubing, a custom aluminum airbox, and an intake filter. Mandrel bent and powder-coated black, the 3" intake tube and custom airbox look great in the engine bay and increase airflow potential substantially. The reusable filter can be cleaned and re-used for the life of your vehicle!
Replacing the factory intake and airbox with the COBB Cold Air Intake will greatly reduce pre-turbo restrictions. When a restriction is removed, it allows the engine to be more efficient while also enabling it to make more power!

Good product, professional courteous staffI was a little disappointed that parts were on backorder and it took almost 6 weeks for product to ship. That being said, customer service was very prompt in answering my multiple requests for status updates and did offer a full refund at any time. I’m glad I waited. The fit and finish on the parts is fantastic. Installed in about 30 minutes, including removal of the oem parts. It was the final piece I needed to go to Cobb stage 2 maps, and car performs wonderfully. Stage 2 maps are far more impressive than stage 1. It feels like a stock gti in city driving, but step on the gas and it unleashes what can only be described as an angry bunny on meth under the hood.

A bit trickier install than expectedLove the intake. Makes the Stage 1+ tune on the 2013 GTI amazing.
Only 2 small issues...
#1 - the installation is a bit trickier than I would have expected coming from the APR Carbonio Stage 1 and 2 intake. The bolt at the rear of the airbox that screws in vertically is difficult to reach. the intake pipe was also more difficult than expected to get in with the battery being in the way of the 2 vibration mounts into the airbox.
#2 - COBB needs to send the intake in a more sturdy box with better void fill. One of the front tabs of the airbox was bent (no big deal, got it back easily), but at $400, I'd expect packaging that can hold up to the well known abuse that FedEx/UPS/USPS can dole out.
All in all, it is a great product. No regrets.

Excellent build quality. Designed by craftsmen. Performance gains!I was introduced to COBB when I purchased a SF intake and AccessPort kit for my Subaru STi. I loved it. When I changed vehicles, I was sad that COBB did not support my new VW GTI. Thankfully I decided to stay on their email list, because one day I received notice that COBB finally developed AccessPort and performance hardware for VW GTIs! I ordered the exact same power package that I had for my Subaru (SF Intake + AccessPort). I couldn't believe the build quality of this new intake. I would say the old Subaru kit was well built, but this new GTI kit is just... excellent! The wrinkled black paint and the attention to detail really compliments the high-calibre engineering that VW made the GTI with. And the AccessPort module is really nicely made as well. My old STI unit was 2nd generation, and doesn't even compare to the new 3rd generation version COBB is now shipping. Installing it was fairly easy... but I did have a fitment issue when trying to secure the filter side of the intake pipe to the airbox. I ended up scratching up my battery box, and the back of the COBB airbox quite a bit while wrestling it together. I ended up pushing more of the rubber coupler onto the turbo side of the intake pipe to get things little more aligned. After contacting COBB support, they were helpful and even offered to replace my scratched airbox free of charge. I appreciate awesome support to go with an awesome product.
End result: a smooth tune that delivers more performance without sacrificing daily drivability. I do notice a increase in fuel consumption, but it's offset by the increase in enjoyment of each drive. Thanks COBB for supporting VW with such a great tuning solution and giving me more of a reason to love the cars I drive.

Intake lacks supportOf all the mods I have done to the car to take full advantage of my FrankenTurbo the Cobb intake is my least favorite.
It does it job fine. Its pretty noisy at startup but quiets down in a few minutes. My big issue is that besides 2 little screws at the front of the intake and the silicon turbo intake pipe, there is no support to hold the intake in place. The pipe literally rest on a metal line by the brake master cylinder. I can even feel engine vibrations thru the intake to my brake pedal. I'm working on a support bracket, but in the mean time I took a shop rag, folded it several times and put it between the intake and the line.
Another thing I don't like is the PCV line gets bent at a really bad angle.
The shop that installed the turbo told me I should get a different intake.
I do love the Cobb Downpipe though.

Great ProductGreat quality, pretty straightforward installation. Did have some minor issues with fitment of the PCV piping onto the new intake, as well as some bolting for the heatshield.
