Designed using CAD technology, the COBB Black anodized billet shifter body is CNC machined from 6061 Aluminum. Like our original design, the shift throw distance and shift knob height are independently adjustable and both can easily be adjusted with the shifter installed in the vehicle. Steel socket head screws are set in a counter bore for a flush mount and provide clamping force to firmly hold the upper and lower slider shafts in place. This design allows easy independent adjustment of shift knob height and shifter throw length, while being strong enough to stand up to rowing through the gears with extreme enthusiasm. Compatible with the factory shift knob or any aftermarket knobs designed to replace the factory unit. -Knob Height - 1" higher to 1" lower -Throw - 10% longer to 25% shorter after cutting the trim ring

Our revolutionary Double Adjustable Shifter ushers in a new generation of adjustability for one of the most critical links from driver to car, with the ability to control both the height of the shift knob as well as the length of the shifter throw.

Subaru 5-Speed Double Adjustable Short Throw Shifter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shifter, needs better hardware Pretty nice shifter. Greatly decreases the throw from stock and the knob sits a good bit lower, even with the knob height all the way up. Shifts feel much better, more precise. Shift effort is noticeably increased but not unreasonable. The hardware is terrible, though. While the allen key head looks nice recessed into the body of the shifter, it's too difficult to tighten enough and too easy to strip out. I couldn't get the throw adjustment tight enough to lock into place with the included hardware. I replaced them with regular M4x0.70x20 hex head cap screws, put a proper wrench on there, and got those buggers tightened down like they should be. Everything is nice and solid and doesn't move around even under the hardest shifting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shorty Installed this last night, very easy install only took about an hour and that was taking my time. Adjust the bottom section before you put the shifter in. Its hard to get the allen key in the tight spot to tighten it enough. I had to extend it about an inch so I could put my car in 2nd,4th, and reverse. You have to tighten the screw very tight to lock the shifter in place. Be careful those screws strip easy. Also make sure not to over tighten the bolt when the shifter connects to the linkage arm, it will make it hard to shift gears.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for! I've been working for a while on how my shifting felt on my 05 OBXT for a while now. I went from a much newer car to an 05 and it was the one thing I had a hard time with. I swapped out the bushings for COBB front and rear and it helped a little. But this short throw adjustable shifter really did the trick. I love how it feels. I still need to dial it down a little more, but It's a huge help from the crummy stock one. and I've heard others write the hardware is junk, but I have to disagree. It's small screws, don't over torque! maybe being a carpenter helps but it seemed to make sense to me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from good part bad hardware I picked this part up not but a week ago and while adjusting the hight of the shifter I ended up stripping the head of the allen bolt do to the low qulity hardware that Cobb supplied. Ended up using a allen bolts for a CAT enigne regen system which is made of harden steal instead of soft aluminum. but other than the hardware the product was a nice upgrade. Also if you have a STI short shifter from the factory you will not notice much change in the throw only the hight of your shift knob.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great product, but The short shift design is great! Not only do you get to adjust the length of your throw, but also the length of the shifter to your custom fit. BUT: The included hardware is terribly weak and will strip (before you even get it tight enough). I replaced the SHCS with some I bot from the hardware store and threw on some loctite and now I can shift without the fear of the shifter assembly sliding up and down and losing its ability to drop into 2/4/R.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but be careful Installed last night on 09 WRX. Watched the video install and went great until I couldn't get into 2nd, 4th or reverse after reinstalling the snap ring. Then after two turns I stripped the lowest Allen nut and because the shifter was sitting so low I couldn't remove the snap ring. 2 hours later finally got it back out of my car and tried drilling out the stripped nut with no success. Had to use a hammer and vise to extend the lower arm. Reinstalled everything and works good. If the shifter is car specific why send it to me set at the wrong height?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Got my STS for my 05 LGT limited with a 2012 STi swap stage 2 @21 psi. Its great, the legacy throw was wayyyy to long this is perfect and the adjustments on it are perfect. Fit right in with ease. I see the other reviews and the hardware is fine as long as you're not a total idiot and overtighten/strip the hardware like a lot of people (idiots) did apparently. Doesn't even need to be tightened that hard, don't know what their problem was. Loved it so much im thinking of getting another one for my 08 Outback, its comical how tall the stock throw was. 10/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shifter I purchased this short throw and the Cobb knob for my 2010 WRX and my shifter feels great. It feels like a brand new driving experience. I was a little careful initially tightening down the screws as to not strip them, but I initially didn't even tighten it enough to hold it. After putting a little more torque on them they are holding great and I never even got close to stripping the screws. So just follow the instructions of a 50 in-lb of torque. That's inches folks so no need for your biceps. I went for the optional cutting of the frame around the shifter for a shorter throw. Let me tell you, the plate is like 1/8" steel! I had to use a serious metal cutting disk to get this done. Not for the faint of heart! But now I have amazing short shifts. Thanks Cobb!
