No trade off upgrade - A no brainer
Had Cobb Plano install these while they were installing a downpipe and CBE on my 2013 WRX sedan. I haven't noticed any increased harshness or vibration. The only thing you get is a solid connection with the shifter linkage. The factory bushings left the shifter feeling vague and rubbery. The Cobb bushings make it feel like it should of from the factory. CONNECTED! You may feel the shifter move forward or backward slightly under load and when letting off, but who doesn't want to feel that anyway. After the upgrade you will be able to feel every gate and get a slight click when it goes in the each gear. Seriously this is a cheap upgrade with zero drawbacks. Do it.

Good shifter, needs better hardware
Pretty nice shifter. Greatly decreases the throw from stock and the knob sits a good bit lower, even with the knob height all the way up. Shifts feel much better, more precise. Shift effort is noticeably increased but not unreasonable. The hardware is terrible, though. While the allen key head looks nice recessed into the body of the shifter, it's too difficult to tighten enough and too easy to strip out. I couldn't get the throw adjustment tight enough to lock into place with the included hardware. I replaced them with regular M4x0.70x20 hex head cap screws, put a proper wrench on there, and got those buggers tightened down like they should be. Everything is nice and solid and doesn't move around even under the hardest shifting.

Amazing Difference
Just installed the the shifter bushing set today on my 2014 WRX hatch. The difference in feel of the shifts is amazing. There is no slop at all. Also, I noticed a fair amount of vibration in the shifter when cruising. All of that is gone.
It took me exactly 1 hour to install but I did have the benefit of a lift. The video instructions were far more helpful than the written instructions. One note that is not mentioned in either set of instructions. When removing the O2 sensor, the wire is zip tied to the bracket and must be snipped before you can spin the sensor off. Also, it is very helpful to have a universal joint for your socket as some of the bolts are at difficult angles.
All in all, a great upgrade.

Shorty
Installed this last night, very easy install only took about an hour and that was taking my time. Adjust the bottom section before you put the shifter in. Its hard to get the allen key in the tight spot to tighten it enough. I had to extend it about an inch so I could put my car in 2nd,4th, and reverse. You have to tighten the screw very tight to lock the shifter in place. Be careful those screws strip easy. Also make sure not to over tighten the bolt when the shifter connects to the linkage arm, it will make it hard to shift gears.

This shift knob makes a difference
I bought this a few weeks ago and I'm very impressed with the quality and feel of this shift knob. It also helped me improve shifting gears.
As others mentioned, in the heat the bottom portion of the knob gets really hot but as others suggested I cover it with the Crown R. cloth bag and it keeps the temp down.
Also at first I was having trouble getting into reverse when the knob is tighten all the way, I had to use both hands to not slam it into reverse for the first week or so now it seems to be getting better with time, just hope that it's not because I'm doing damage to the shift mechanism

Just what I was looking for!
I've been working for a while on how my shifting felt on my 05 OBXT for a while now. I went from a much newer car to an 05 and it was the one thing I had a hard time with. I swapped out the bushings for COBB front and rear and it helped a little. But this short throw adjustable shifter really did the trick. I love how it feels. I still need to dial it down a little more, but It's a huge help from the crummy stock one. and I've heard others write the hardware is junk, but I have to disagree. It's small screws, don't over torque! maybe being a carpenter helps but it seemed to make sense to me.

good part bad hardware
I picked this part up not but a week ago and while adjusting the hight of the shifter I ended up stripping the head of the allen bolt do to the low qulity hardware that Cobb supplied. Ended up using a allen bolts for a CAT enigne regen system which is made of harden steal instead of soft aluminum. but other than the hardware the product was a nice upgrade. Also if you have a STI short shifter from the factory you will not notice much change in the throw only the hight of your shift knob.

great once installed
I gave this a 1-star rating for the incorrect design for my car. Nonetheless, taken together with the front shifter bushing, this is a great product, but the installation will make you cry.
I am not alone in experiencing the problems that I encountered (google it). The two holes that the bolts go through are parallel in the bushing design, however, on the stock bushing and on the car, the holes to screw into are NOT parallel, but inward facing. There is no bending the bushing to comply (which speaks to the quality of the bushing). I was really frustrated at how difficult this seemingly simple install should have been and confused as to how little attention to this major detail was overlooked.
there are different methods, but here is mine:
-Remove one of the metal barrels to give more lateral play so bolt goes in at an angle.
-Install bushing and drive for ~250 miles.
-Bolt hole now has more play. Reinstall metal barrel and bushing and bring install to completion!
