Subaru’s 2018 WRX STI and Forester XT can now be tuned with the COBB Accessport!  Support for the 2018 WRX STI includes all of our bolt-on modifications and Stage Power Packages that STI owners have been using to release potential from their 2015-2017 STIs.  The 2018 Forester XT is largely the same as previous years and remains torque-limited by the CVT transmission.

2018 Subaru WRX STI Accessport

The Accessport for the 2018 WRX STI is largely the same as it has been for prior MY vehicles, with one difference.  Subaru has introduced new devices onto the vehicle’s CAN that do impact ECU flash time.  Customers installing an Accessport on their 2018 WRX STI will encounter slightly longer flash time (Install/Map Change/Uninstall) when compared to 2015-2017 WRX STIs.  Expected Install time is 7-10 minutes, Map Change is 3-5 minutes.  Due to the increased flash time, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND utilizing a battery tender during initial installation.

Off The Shelf Maps

The Accessport will come pre-loaded with Off The Shelf Maps that support Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 Power Packages.  Each map is offered in both a 91 and 93 octane version.  If for some reason these maps cannot be found on the Accessport, they can be downloaded from the Maps Section of the COBB website.  A complete list of available COBB Off The Shelf Maps can be seen below.

Stage Power Packages

Available packages allow for anything from mild to wild.  Stage 1 Power Package includes the Accessport and our SF Intake/Airbox combo.  The Stage 2 Power Package swaps out the intake/airbox for a full 3″ Stainless Steel Turboback Exhaust and Turbo Heat Shield.  In order to utilize both an intake and exhaust upgrade, the fuel system also needs to be beefed up.  The Stage 3 Power Package includes a host of fuel system upgrades, the Intake/Airbox combo, 3″ Turboback Exhaust, and a Turbo Inlet Hose.  For those who anticipate moving to a larger turbocharger or flex fuel configuration in the future, this Stage 3 Power Package provides adequate fuel to do so.

Interested in taking advantage of fuel with higher ethanol content right off the bat?  The Stage 3 + Flex Fuel Power Package adds our Flex Fuel Sensor Kit and Fuel Pressure Sensor Kit to the standard Stage 3 Power Package.  An Off The Shelf Map is not available for this package so we recommend reaching out to your preferred COBB Protuner to schedule a custom tune.

2018 Subaru Forester XT

The same AP3-SUB-004 Accessport also now supports the 2018 Forester XT.  Similar to the 2014-2017 Forester XT, the 2018 FXT utilizes a CVT transmission that unfortunately cannot handle torque levels much higher than stock.  With that in mind, Off The Shelf Map support is limited to Stage 1 for 91 and 93 octane fuels.

Even with the limited torque capacity of the factory transmission, our calibrators are able to extract meaningful gains without significant risk.  Maximum gains of +23% HP and +23% TQ over stock can be expected when using 93 octane fuel.  Gains will drop approximately 5% when using 91 octane fuel.
