Accessport PDK Tuning for Porsche 997.2 Turbo/Turbo S/Carrera, and 987.2 Cayman/Boxster
The Porsche team here at COBB Tuning is extremely excited to announce the newest development of our Accessport for Porsche product line. PDK Tuning is now available for all currently supported 997.2 and 987.2 vehicles. Similar to our initial PDK Tuning release for 991.1 and 981 vehicles, this release offers users the ability to flash the factory PDK controller with COBB optimized Off The Shelf Map files.

Included Off The Shelf Maps
Accessports with PDK Flashing enabled will have a variety of Off The Shelf Maps pre-loaded. Choose the best map for your driving style or switch to a more aggressive map for spirited driving sessions or your next HPDE. All OTS maps provided are designed to be used on an otherwise stock PDK transmission. Cars with upgraded clutch packs will require custom tuning which will be available with a future Accesstuner Pro release.
- Simulated Stock
- OEM + (987.2 Boxster/Cayman Only)
- COBB Sport
- COBB Aggressive
- COBB High Torque Aggressive (997.2 Turbo/Turbo S Only)
The OEM+ PDK OTS Map is a representation of Porsche’s Cayman R PDK tuning and is intended to be used on supported Cayman/Boxsters to simulate the OEM Cayman R calibration. COBB Sport, COBB Aggressive, and COBB High Torque Aggressive will offer the features below.
- Increased Minimum Shift Points
- Increased Shift Firmness
- Increased Clutch Pressure (997.2 Turbo / Turbo S Only)
- Minimized Continuous Clutch Slip
- Decreased Shift Time
Below are examples of shifting behavior when utilizing the COBB PDK OTS Maps and driving the car in Normal Mode. As you can see, the COBB PDK maps hold gears to a slightly higher RPM so the car remains in the meat of the power band for a bit longer.
When utilizing Sport Mode the minimum RPM is bumped a bit further, represented in the graphs below.
For a detailed explanation of each feature and help determining which map is right for you, visit the PDK Map Notes Page and choose the appropriate vehicle listing.
How to Get It
There are two options for gaining access to PDK Flashing for your 987.2 or 997.2 Porsche. Those already utilizing an Accessport for engine tuning, the COBB Customer Service Team can upgrade your existing Accessport remotely through a custom Accessport firmware update key. If you do not yet have one, Accessports with PDK Flashing already enabled are available for purchase directly on the COBB Tuning website.
Two new Accessport options have been added to the COBB Tuning website. These two new Accessport part numbers will come with the PDK Tuning feature enabled and have PDK Off The Shelf Maps pre-loaded when shipped.

So no high torque map for the 987.2?
Correct. The High Torque maps are intended for turbocharged vehicles at are making substantially more torque than stock. We have not seen the need for them on naturally aspirated vehicles thus far.
Marshall@COBB
M Cayman is turbocharged and in desperate need of additional pressure 🙁
Understood! In that case, we can likely create a one-off version for you. Do you already have PDK Tuning enabled? If so, we will just need the PDK ROM ID in order to send you a map. We will email you directly with instructions for getting that information.

Tired of seeing more PDK tuning promotion. Where’s 991.2 tuning? Been waiting since 2016 and still nothing.
Hoping to have some good news for the 991.2 and 718 guys here very soon!
Marshall@COBB
The high-torque map did the trick for slip management. Any possibility/plans for items like kick-down defeat and dual-paddle neutral?
That’s good to hear!
Regarding the kick-down and neutral features. I don’t have an answer for that currently. We’re totally focused on finishing 991.2 and 718 support currently. Once that is wrapped up then we can start planning for future updates and features on various Porsche platforms.
Adam@COBB
Kick-down defeat in manual mode would be a big win. Granted, Porsche should’ve built it that way to begin with but…
Mike,
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll pass the idea along to our Porsche team to investigate for future updates.

I got this for the 997.2 turbo 2010 for the PDK tune – however there should be a warning to buyers that their TCU has to be latest or from which version because I am sure many won’t have the latest version and face what I am facing – the TCU is not supported error.
Hey Brian,
Sorry to hear you’re dealing with that. In our experience, most cars that have been into a Porsche dealership have been updated to a ROM that the Accessport supports. In the case that this hasn’t been done, having the TCU updated by a dealership or Porsche-focused shop should be relatively straight-forward.
Marshall@COBB
Any chance you can add the ability to reverse the up/downshift direction on the PDK shifter as has been enabled for the 991 models? This would be a boon for those of us stuck with backwards shifters!
Hey Jason, we’d love to integrate that feature across all of the PDK-equipped cars we support. Unfortunately, with there not being any 997/987 generation cars that had that configuration from the factory it isn’t a direct carry-over and would require a much more intensive implementation. It’s not something we’re working on right now, but is certainly something we can look into in the future.
