COBB Tuning AccessTUNER Goes “Down-Under” with ADM Vehicle Support and New Features

COBB Tuning’s AccessTUNER software gets several new updates, including support for Australian 2007-2011 MAZDA3 MPS and 2004-2006 MAZDA6 MPS vehicles, our proprietary new Dynamic Load Scaling feature, which offers the most flexible and precise load scaling of any tuning solution available for the 2.3L DISI ECU, and several other updates that make AccessTUNER easier to use.

New Australian vehicle support is currently only available in our professional tuning software, AccessTUNER Pro, but will be released in our end-user AccessTUNER Race software within the next few weeks. All other features have been incorporated into both AccessTUNER Pro and AccessTUNER Race. Read on to learn more about these exciting new features and see how COBB Tuning is keeping the AccessPORT at the forefront of MAZDASPEED engine management!

DYNAMIC LOAD SCALING
COBB Tuning’s implementation of Dynamic Load Scaling allows tuning beyond the OEM limitation of 2.0 grams of Load while retaining high table resolution. The load scaling table axes are now completely customizable up to 5.0 grams of Load. Breakpoints in the load axes can be set at user defined values, allowing the tuner to increase table resolutions in areas where it is needed, and decrease table resolution in less critical areas of the table.

To make Dynamic Load Scaling easy to use, common table groups share the same Load axis. For example, a change to the Fuel CL Commended EQ (Base) load scaling would automatically be applied to five other related Fuel tables. A change to the Ign Table – High Throttle/OL (No Knock) load scaling would automatically be applied to eight other related Ignition tables.

Dynamic Load Scaling is currently supported on the following vehicles:

  • USDM MAZDASPEED3 2007-2012 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • USDM MAZDASPEED6 2006-2007 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • ADM MAZDA3 MPS 2007-2011 (AccessTUNER Pro only)
  • ADM MAZDA6 MPS 2004-2006 (AccessTUNER Pro only)

FUEL INJECTION TABLES PROMOTED TO “RELEASE”
Fuel Injector control is now available in the general release of AccessTUNER and users no longer have to update to a Beta version of the software to access these features. All “BETA” labels have been removed. These tables are also available for ADM support.

  • Injector Phasing Multiplier: This table name was changed from Injector Latency Multiplier in the Beta release. Decreasing this value will move the injector opening point to earlier in the engine cycle, increasing fuel delivery (this will cause Injector Duty Cycle [IDC%] to decrease). Increasing this value will move the injector opening period to later in the engine cycle, shortening the period for fuel delivery (this will cause IDC% to increase). Caution should be exercised when decreasing this value as it can be adjusted enough to allow fuel injection to begin as early as the exhaust stroke, through the intake and compression strokes, which may increase wetting of the cylinder walls if the intake charge has not started its entry into the cylinder.
  • Injector Scalar: This control allows a "pump gas" calibrated MAF curve to remain the same when using alternative fuels like E85.  Previously, the only way to compensate for these types of fuels was to skew the MAF sensor to achieve desired fueling.  The Injector Scalar, in conjunction with the Specific Fuel Gravity setting, allows accurate representation of airflow and fueling requirements. Increasing this value will increase fuel delivery by making the ECU think the injector size is smaller. Decreasing this value will decrease fuel delivery by making the ECU think the injector size is larger.  This control will become more prominent once aftermarket fuel injectors become available for this platform.
  • Specific Fuel Gravity: This table allows the entry of the specific gravity of different fuel types and fuel mixes to be entered to allow the ECU to properly calculate fuel delivery requirements. For example, gasoline is around 0.74, E85 and Methanol (99.9%) are around 0.80 and C16 is around 0.70.

These new Fuel Injection Tables are currently supported on the following vehicles:

  • USDM MAZDASPEED3 2007-2012 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • USDM MAZDASPEED6 2006-2007 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • ADM MAZDA3 MPS 2007-2011 (AccessTUNER Pro only)
  • ADM MAZDA6 MPS 2004-2006 (AccessTUNER Pro only)

VEHICLE NAME ORGANIZATION
Region and vehicle year naming conventions were re-organized to allow for vehicle names to be sorted by region, making it easier to find the appropriate vehicle type as support expands beyond USDM vehicles.

Vehicle Name Organization is currently supported on the following vehicles:

  • USDM MAZDASPEED3 2007-2012 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • USDM MAZDASPEED6 2006-2007 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • ADM MAZDA3 MPS 2007-2011 (AccessTUNER Pro only)
  • ADM MAZDA6 MPS 2004-2006 (AccessTUNER Pro only)

KEEP NON-TABLE DATA
The Keep Non-Table Data check box has been defaulted to unchecked. This will minimize support issues for major custom code updates applied to Maps.

Keep Non-Table Data is currently supported on the following vehicles:

  • USDM MAZDASPEED3 2007-2012 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • USDM MAZDASPEED6 2006-2007 (AccessTUNER Pro and Race)
  • ADM MAZDA3 MPS 2007-2011 (AccessTUNER Pro only)
  • ADM MAZDA6 MPS 2004-2006 (AccessTUNER Pro only)
