COBB Tuning begins coilover tests

We are excited to have our first coilover set for testing installed on our MazdaSpeed3.  The front coilover consists of an inverted strut utilizing a helper spring with a 42mm diameter piston and has an external reservoir with high speed and low speed compression adjustments, as well as rebound adjustment on the bottom of the assembly.  The rear is a standard shock setup with a 46mm diameter piston that, as with the front, have high speed and low speed compression adjustable on the reservoir, while the rebound is adjusted at the top of the shock shaft.  It has an external reservoir built inline with the damper assembly to fit within the provided space allotment.  Ride height is altered via aluminum spring perches that are locked in place with a 6mm stainless steel socket-head capscrew.  On the rear, an adapter was made that will allow the use of standard 2.5″ coilover springs to mate up to our height adjustment system (not pictured).

Construction of the suspension is a combination of zinc-plated steel and anodized aluminum with aluminum spherical-bearing top mounts. We will provide a wide range of spring rates to choose from to fit the needs of various applications. These suspensions are truly a work of art and we are very enthusiastic for their release once our extensive testing is complete.

The currently list of planned applications consists of:
’08+ WRX/STi
’02-’07 WRX/STi
’08+ Nissan R35 GTR
EVO X
MazdaSpeed3

We will be offering the 3-way adjustable setup (pictured) and a more affordable 1-way setup (not pictured) for most applications.  The 1-way setup will be built to the same quality standards as the 3-way and both will be geared toward a comfortable controlled ride on the street while still providing amazing track performance.
