Redline Intake, Intercooler Kit, Power Packages for FL5 Type R & DE5 Type S

We are proud to introduce the latest in our line of intercooler upgrades and Redline carbon fiber intakes for the 2023+ Honda Civic Type R (FL5) and 2024+ Acura Integra Type S (DE5). These two upgrades are crucial when it comes to producing safe, reliable power gains with the cars’ turbocharged K20C1 power plant. Combine with an Accessport and accompanying Off The Shelf Map for our full Stage 2 Power Package!

COBB Redline Intake for FL5 & DE5

The COBB Redline Carbon Fiber Intake sets the bar for Honda / Acura performance intakes. This is the premier intake system you’ve been looking for. Upgrade the restrictive factory intake with a high flowing and aesthetically pleasing intake system. Constructed of carbon fiber and finished in a high quality gloss clear coat, the Redline Intake does not go unnoticed.

Construction

The main airbox is constructed of multiple layers of 2×2 twill carbon fiber sheets, making for a true carbon intake. High quality gloss clear finish provides fade resistance from heat and UV light. A bespoke black Redline badge sits at the front of the integrated intake ducting. Removing our airbox lid for service is simple with a satisfying-to-use billet knob. Air is filtered through a large, pre-oiled filter which offers 22% more surface area than stock. Our bespoke Velocity Stack MAF Housing then ushers intake air into the rest of the intake system. A black anodized billet aluminum adapter secures the MAF housing to the airbox. A wire-reinforced black silicone coupler is secured on either end with black anodized clamps for a very sleek install.

Velocity Stack MAF Housing

This intake system utilizes several unique features in an effort to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence. The CFD-designed velocity stack and unique air flow straightener grid are designed to smooth the incoming air flow as it passes the Mass Air Flow sensor for precise readings. The one piece high temperature plastic composite design saves weight and reduces heat transfer. The cross section of the COBB MAF housing is increased by 36% over stock to allow for additional airflow.

Installation

Installation of the Redline Intake is as simple as it comes for intakes with an integrated airbox and scoop. Following our detailed installation instructions, the entire intake assembly can be dropped in within just a few minutes! Serviceability of the intake air filter is also straight forward once the initial installation has been completed.

Calibration

The Redline Carbon Fiber intake is compatible with COBB Stage1+ and Stage 2 Off The Shelf Maps. For a complete list of maps for your car, head over to the Maps Section of our website. For all information related to COBB Off The Shelf Maps, see our Map Notes Page.

Intercooler Kits for FL5 & DE5

Introducing the COBB Intercooler Kit for the FL5 Civic Type R and DE5 Integra Type S. An upgraded intercooler is crucial when it comes to consistent power delivery out of the turbocharged power plant. This is true in stock form and especially so with cars that have been tuned to produce more power. While the factory intercooler flows well, its cooling capacity is limited and it is susceptible to heat-soak when managing extreme heat. The COBB Intercooler Kit offers a significant increase in overall cooling capacity.

Intercooler Core

The COBB Intercooler Kit is based around a high quality Garrett intercooler core that is 101% larger in size than the factory unit, coming in at 26.2″ x 7″ x 4.25″. At either end of the core are bespoke COBB end tanks, designed and optimized for flow and air path dispersion across the core. Combined, we see significant improvements in heat management without sacrificing airflow. The cores are available with either silver or black powder coat finish.

Charge Piping

On either side of the larger core, the COBB kit utilizes 2.5″ mandrel bent aluminum tubing that is powder coated wrinkle black. Custom silicone couplers and constant tension clamps keep everything both compliant and leak-free.

Mounting

The COBB Intercooler fits right into where the factory intercooler sits with minimal modification required. The aluminum core and end tanks are a bit heavier than the factory aluminum and plastic combination, so we made sure to properly support the upgraded unit with bespoke, in-house designed billet upper mounts and new bushings for both upper and lower mounts.

Stage 1+ Redline Package & Power Gains

Installing the COBB Redline Intake onto your Type R or Type S means we get to take advantage of a bit more power on tap thanks to airflow increases. This Stage 1+ Redline Power Package combines the power of the Accessport and included Off The Shelf (OTS) Maps with the Redline Intake we outlined above. When used as a complete package with a provided COBB OTS Map, expect the power gains below.

Stage 2 Packages & Power Gains

Combining the airflow increase of the COBB Redline Intake with the cooling capabilities of our Front Mount Intercooler means even more power is on tap. The Stage 2 Redline Power Packages include both power upgrades and the Accessport with its included Stage 2 Off The Shelf (OTS) Maps. Available with either a black or silver intercooler upgrade.

  1. Hello.

How us the Stage 2 the best bang, I’d the Stage 1+93 provide about the same HP compared the Stage 2+93, and S1+93 produces more torque at lower RPM (based on your chart) than the S2+93?

What’s the value of paying more for the S2+93 when I can get more torque at lower RPM and the same HP with the S1+93

Is it easy to switch the tine from stage to another stage and back?

    Thank you

    • Hey, Fred!

That’s a great question! There are indeed negligible power gains between Stage 1+93 and Stage 2. That’s entirely attributable to the OEM fuel system – it’s tapped out at/beyond Stage 1+SF. For an OTS application (attempting to provide safe, reliable power gains for any vehicle across the country, with mechanical condition as a variable), we don’t want to push it any harder. For our Protuners, they can work with you, as the end-user, on a 1:1 basis to craft a custom calibration specific to your vehicle, its intended use(s), and mechanical tolerances/risks. With that in mind, you can squeeze a bit more power to make a notable difference. You can find a list of those Protuners here:

Additionally, the primary purpose of adding the FMIC is to increase the cooling ceiling (or thermal capacity), allowing you to maintain increased power for significantly longer. The OEM intercooler is quite wonderful for a single pull or two. However, as it reaches its thermal capacity, the ECU will begin implementing safety precautions to protect the motor by reducing boost, timing, and other parameters.

That’s a fair bit of information and a longer explanation than you were probably expecting, but if anything else comes to mind, feel free to reach out!

  2. I live in Cali and can by 91 octane pump gas where I live. Which package /upgrade will give me the most HP and my 24 ITS IS still CARB compliant.

  3. Is it safe to use the intake with no tune? I just got the car and want to keep the ECU stock until after the warranty period. Would love to have the look and sound in the meantime though!

    • Hi Ray, our intake uses a larger size MAF housing which allows for more precise tuning at higher power. As a result of that, the MAF scaling is different than the factory intake so your ECU does need to be tuned in order to run safely and effectively.

  4. How much additional BHP can I expect from the stage 1 & stage 2 installation , on my 2025 Integra type -s

    • Hi Ronald, you can reference the dyno charts under each respective stage to see the gains over stock with our parts and corresponding Off The Shelf Map. As you’ve referenced, we measure power at the wheels using a chassis dyno. To get to a BHP you can correct by the assumed drivetrain loss of these cars.
