What good is increasing engine power if you can’t transfer it to the wheels? It’s well known that the MK7 Golf GTI and R engines respond happily to ECU tuning, but it’s also well known that the factory DSG calibration struggles to keep up. We are excited to announce the next big release from COBB Tuning for the MK7 platform. DSG Tuning via the Accessport V3!

OTS DSG MAPS

We have crafted several off-the-shelf DSG maps that are ready to flash to the transmission computer via the Accessport as soon as you receive the device. Each map improves upon shortcomings within the OEM calibration while also adding features and performance benefits required to handle higher engine power and produce a complete premier driving experience whether cruising around town or blasting at full throttle down the track.

MK7 GTI  Maps

• COBB OEM+ 
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed.
• COBB Sport 
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed. Forced upshifts and downshifts in manual mode disabled. Sport mode shift points change, about 4-500rpm higher than stock. WOT shift points enhanced for is20 cars.
• COBB Agressive v100
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed. Forced upshifts and downshifts in manual mode disabled. Aggressive shift points will maintain RPMS above 2k RPMS at most times to increase response. Sport mode remains in 5th until 5800+. WOT shift points optimized for peak power band use in tuned is20 cars.
• COBB Agressive IS38  (only for use with MK7 GTI’s using an OEM IS38 Turbo)
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed. Forced upshifts and downshifts in manual mode disabled. Aggressive shift points will maintain RPMS above 2k RPMS at most times to increase response. Sport mode remains in 5th until 6200+. WOT shift points optimized specifically for tuned is38 cars.

Stock Turbo	IS38 Turbo

The shift points at full throttle have been selected based on achieving the maximum torque to the wheels based on dyno results recorded at COBB HQ.

MK7 Golf R Maps

• COBB OEM+
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed.
• COBB Sport
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual mode is removed. Forced upshifts and downshifts in manual mode disabled.  Sport shift points change, about 4-500rpm higher than stock. WOT shift points enhanced for a broader power band.
• COBB Aggressive
  Removes factory limitations in torque management. Shift delay in manual removed. Forced upshifts and downshifts in manual mode disabled.  Aggressive shift point change RPM above 2k mostly. Sport mode remains in 5th until 6200+. WOT shift points optimized for peak use of the entire power band.

Additional Features

Datalogging and Live Gauges – Just like ECU monitoring, we’ve provided a long list of DSG specific data-monitors that can be recorded or live monitored in high resolution so you can keep an eye on transmission parameters like temperatures, line pressure, input vs output speed, and so on.

Clutch Relearn – As the clutches wear down, the transmission computer has the ability to perform a “learning procedure” to keep tolerances within spec. Normally the dealership has to perform that service, but now you can do it at home with an Accessport at any time.  

On Dash Gear Indicator – A simple but highly requested feature. Flashing the DSG with an Accessport will add a transmission gear indicator to the center display on the dashboard for all drive modes.

Custom DSG Protuning

Along with the new Accessport OTS DSG maps and features, authorized COBB Protuners will also receive an update to their Accesstuner Pro software enabling them to produce custom DSG maps for clients. For many users, the provided OTS DSG maps will check all the right boxes, but for the “heavy users” that compete in autocross, at the drag strip, weekend track days, or push the engine to high power builds. The ability to work with a Protuner and personalize the DSG calibration will ensure that the car reaches its peak potential.
