COBB CAN FLEX FUEL UPGRADE SUBARU WRX 2022-2025

The COBB CAN Gateway Flex Fuel Upgrade offers true plug-and-play installation and allows for seamless integration of flex fuel for the VB WRX.

CAN Gateway
The included COBB CAN Gateway provides the means for aftermarket sensor data to be injected into your car’s CAN system where it can be absorbed by the ECU and utilized in either a COBB Off The Shelf Map or custom calibration. The Gateway itself is constructed of billet aluminum encasing a precision manufactured PCB. The included bracket allows for a straight-forward bolt-in installation on supported cars.

Vehicle Specific Harness
Each CAN Gateway Kit includes a vehicle specific wiring harness. This specific kit is compatible with 2022-2024 WRXs. It consists of a cable that runs into the cabin and utilizes our CAN adapter which allows integration to be a plug-and-play affair. Installation of this component requires removal of your car’s Radio/Cockpit Control Unit.

CAN Ethanol Sensor Kit
The CAN Ethanol Sensor Kit includes an ethanol sensor with mounting bracket, fuel lines with quick connect fittings, and a wiring harness that connects to the CAN Gateway.

Fuel Pressure Sensor for VB WRX Flex Fuel

CAN Flex Fuel & Fuel Pressure Installation

Installing the CAN Gateway, Ethanol Content Sensor, and Fuel Pressure Sensor is straight forward.  That said, it does include some steps that are a small departure from previous COBB Flex Fuel Kits.  In order to tap into the WRX’s CAN network the included Vehicle Harness must be run through the firewall and behind dashboard. Access the network at the OEM Gateway takes place behind the dash.  This is all possible in a plug-and-play fashion, but does require removing the factory radio/display.  The video above walks you through that process, full install support is available at the link below.

Off The Shelf Map Support & Power Gains

The best part of the COBB Accessport and using Stage Power Packages is that COBB Off The Shelf (OTS) Maps are included for FREE.  As long as your car’s modifications match the parts requirements you can have confidence that your car will perform safely and reliably at the increased power level.  For this release, we’re keeping it simple.  All new Stage1+Flex Fuel OTS Maps are available for download from cobbtuning.com/maps.  These maps are intended to be used on a car that is equipped with our Stage 1+ Flex Fuel Power Package outlined above. The only choice you have to make is the appropriate base Octane level (91 or 93).

Stage1+FlexFuel 91 v311.ptm

Choose this map when your base fuel when NOT running E85 is 91 Octane (E10) pump fuel.

Stage1+FlexFuel 93 v311.ptm

Choose this map when your base fuel when NOT running E85 is 93 Octane (E10) pump fuel.

  1. Finally! Was wondering if you guys plan on offering a “previous ethanol sensor kit” package like you do with the prior generations so I can use my pre-greenspeed Cobb Flex sensor and fuel lines from a 2015+ WRX on a 2022+ WRX?

    • Hey there! There aren’t really enough shared parts between the VA and VB FF kits to make any sort of an “upgrade” kit like that worth it, unfortunately.

      Marshall@COBB

    • This specific kit is not compatible with the Ascent or Outback, but we are working on one that will be!

      Marshall@COBB

    • Yes, we believe it will. We did test fit with an early prototype IAG AOS and don’t believe anything has changed in their design.

      Marshall@COBB

    • Yes! We’re already testing the ECU side of things and have engaged some of our Australian partners to help with parts fitment.

      Marshall@COBB

  2. Can we put this system anywhere else for mounting? The Verus AOS mounts in the exact same place, which is why I’m asking.

    • Hey Jesse, always possible with a different bracket solution. There will be some limitation with wiring harness and fuel line length though.

      Marshall@COBB

    • These are not yet available for use in California. We are continuing to work with CARB to help put together a path towards EO coverage for all of our Flex Fuel offerings.

    • No meaningful updates at the moment, hoping to have something to share in the coming months!

  3. Hello,
I would like to purchase and install the Subaru Stage 2 Power Package Black WRX 2022-2024.
Could you please confirm if this package is compatible with a 2023 WRX 2.4 Turbo CVT?
Also, I’m considering whether it’s necessary to buy the COBB Stage 1 + CAN Flex Fuel Power Package Subaru WRX 2022-2024, or if I can go directly with the Stage 2 Power Package Black without missing anything important.

    • Hi there! Both our Stage1+Flex Fuel and Stage 2 Power Packages are compatible with your 2023 WRX CVT. We do not yet offer a Stage 2+Flex Fuel Package but it is being worked on. That package will simply add some fueling upgrades to our existing Stage 2 Power Package.

      Marshall@COBB

  4. Hi. I currently have the Cobb stage 2 package. I want to add flex fuel. I see you currently only have stage 1 flex tune ots. Will it hurt anything to run the stage 1 flex tune with the stage 2 components? Do I need to wait for the stage 2 tune to come out? Any estimated timeline?

    • Hi there! Our currently available Stage1+FlexFuel OTS Maps are intended to be used on an otherwise stock car. That said, our bolt-on airflow upgrades would be fine to use with that map, you just wouldn’t see additional power gains. Our Stage 2+FlexFuel package/map is well underway and we hope to have a good idea of a timeline for that very soon.

  5. Thank you for your response. Could you please let me know if I will be able to install and run the Stage 2 package in Kazakhstan?

    • Hi Murat,

That depends on where the car originated. We believe there to be 3 different ECU variants for VB WRXs – USDM, JDM, and ADM (more world market). We currently support both the USDM and ADM (rest of world market) ECUs so as long as your car has one of those you will be able to install.

      Marshall@COBB

    • Hi Darrin! We have been working with GotItRex in Melbourne to help with some development of CAN Flex Fuel for our Australian customers. Everything is looking great thus far, we’re just in a small holding pattern at the moment while some new wiring harnesses and brackets are being made. Our current hope is to release CAN Flex Fuel around the end of June.

      Marshall@COBB

  6. Thanks for the update. I look forward to that day.
Will the bracket etc be fitting to the opposite side of the bulk head or just a slight relocation from the LHD models?
