SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND SUBARUS

The largest Subaru Enthusiast Festival in California is Subiefest, and it is the place to be every year. Many drive hundreds of miles, even from out of state. All just to gather for the car show, see their favorite vendors for sweet deals, watch others auto-cross their cars including celebrity drivers such as Bucky Lasek and Scott Speed, or meet those internet friends in-person for the first time, that they’ve known for many years.

Speaking of internet friends, we want to thank everyone who came by our booth to talk to us, check out our products on display, or simply learned how to use our COBB kazoos. We love to help answer questions about the parts, upgrade path, what maps to use, or what even COBB Tuning is and what we do. With new model vehicles coming out every year and the used vehicles on older generation Subaru’s getting more affordable, we are meeting brand new Subaru Enthusiast each year.

CARBON CAR

On the topic of older generation of Subarus, we had a piece of COBB Tuning history on display at our booth. This vehicle was known as the COBB Carbon Fiber Time-Attack Car. We’ll be referencing it as Carbon Car for short. Founder Trey COBB, had set a goal to build a track car to ship to Japan and attempt to set a Time-Attack Record at Tsukuba Japan.

To keep this story short, this 2006 WRX TR was purchased new in the summer of 2006 and was completely stripped with less than 100miles on the odometer. CFD Analysis for the one-off full aero-packge was actually completely before the car was purchased. Carbon Car debuted at SEMA in 2006 and attended many other shows and magazine features. The project was never perfected to be finish for an event in Japan. Carbon Car had exchanged hands in ownership (follow COBB employee) and had been left parked on a lift to collect dust for MANY years. As of recent, Redline Motorwerks acquired the car and set off to finish the car to be ready for Subiefest California.

While this race car sports a full motorsport roll cage, aero flat-bottom, gutted interior; it also has the ENTIRE COBB catalog. From the COBB Drivetrain package, all the way to the COBB 20g with COBB supported modifications while using a COBB Accessport and a custom tune. The Carbon Car will be ready for endurance racing and time attack in the near future!

FRIENDS OR FAMILY? WHY NOT BOTH!

It’s also great to see our other friends in the industry. Many of us are scatted across the country, and Subiefest is a great way to bring us together. As the car community grows, we share insights on trends, demands, and needs that the enthusiast want. It was great to see our friends such as Eibach, Yimisport, Nightmotorsport, Subimods, and more.

NEW RELATIONSHIPS

We also get to meet new faces for the first time and build new relationships in hope that we may collaborate in the future. At the end of the day, we want to provide valuable products and features that our customers like and make memories to tell their friends.
