A few weeks back we invited Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire down to COBB Tuning Headquarters in Austin, TX. We had two cars that he was itching to get his hands on – our Stage 3 Ford Mustang EcoBoost and our Stage 2 Porsche 911 (997.2)Turbo. Both cars present prime examples of how a few bolt-on parts can completely improve the driving experience. On the first day Matt was able to drive both the Mustang and Porsche out at Harris Hill Road followed the next day with a bit of hill country driving in the Mustang.
First up was our Stage 3 Mustang EcoBoost at Harris Hill Road. As for power-adders – this car is utilizing our upgraded front mount intercooler kit, a full turbo-back exhaust system, and our recently released Ford Mustang Cold Air Intake Kit. Helping to get that power to the ground is a set of COBB Springs, a COBB Front/Rear Swaybar Kit, and a set of ADV.1 ADV10 Track Function CS wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires.
Next up was our Stage 2 Porsche 997.2 Turbo. This car is equipped with a standard bolt-on exhaust system from By Design Automotive Group, Alpha Performance Intercoolers by AMS Performance, and our Stage 2 Off The Shelf calibration. That’s it. With two simple bolt-on parts and a tune these cars are capable of producing well over 500whp and 500wtq, making the track at Harris Hill Road get real small, real fast.
The following afternoon, Matt and Ian from COBB took the Mustang EcoBoost out to found some twisty roads outside of Austin. Matt requested we put the stock wheels and tires back on the car in hopes of being able to get the back end to come around a bit more while cornering.
