2023+ Outback XT / Wilderness and Legacy XT / Sport Accessport Tuning

One of the best modifications you can make to your Subaru Outback is a tune.  Today we are extremely excited to announce the availability of Accessport tuning for the 2023-2025 Subaru Outback XT and Wilderness as well as the 2023-2025 Legacy XT and Sport trims!

Subaru’s 2.4L DIT motor continues to impress.  The more we work with it, the more we love it.  We first worked with the FA24 developing Accessport tuning support for the 2019-2020 Ascent and then later in the 2022+ WRX in both Manual and CVT configurations.  After learning a great deal about how to work within the bounds of the CVT and its controller, we re-visited the FA24 powered Outbacks.  This lead to the release of tuning support for the 2020-2022 Outback and Legacy vehicles middle of 2024. Since then, we have fielded a ton of demand from 2023+ owners.  We are happy to finally say the wait is over!

Accessport for 2023+ Outback XT & Wilderness / Legacy XT & Sport

The Accessport is the world’s best selling, most flexible, and easiest to use ECU upgrade solution for your 2.4L Subaru Ascent, Outback, and Legacy. Unlock power hidden within the vehicle by replacing conservative factory settings with more aggressive calibrations. Follow our staged upgrade path with pre-loaded Off The Shelf (OTS) maps or use custom mapping for any modification level. It’s the last engine management solution you’ll ever need.

Vehicles Supported

The following vehicles are now supported by the ALL NEW AP3-SUB-007 Accessport.  The reason behind an all new part number is that Subaru moved to a new ECU strategy starting in 2023, even though the cars remain mechanically identical to their predecessors.  These vehicles are also now in a more stringent emissions category, LEV3-ULEV50, which meant we had to subject our calibrations to additional emissions testing before their release.

Off The Shelf Maps

The Accessport will come with our COBB Off The Shelf Maps, or tunes, pre-loaded.  Simply plug the Accessport into your car’s OBDII port and follow the on-screen instructions to install the map file that matches your application.  The Stage0 map file uses all stock calibration data, the car will perform exactly as it did stock.  All Stage1 maps are intended to be used with an otherwise stock car.  Simply choose whichever best fits your octane or use case.

Stage0‎ v100.ptm

Stage1 87+ v100.ptm

Stage1 91 v100.ptm

Stage1 93 v100.ptm

Stage1 Economy Mode v100.ptm

Stage1 Valet Mode v100.ptm

Vehicle Anti-Theft Mode v100.ptm

For more details and modification requirements for COBB OTS Maps, see our Map Notes Page.

The COBB Outback and Legacy XT maps create more power than stock and maximize the utility of the factory DAM octane sensing system by linking it to several mechanisms to both fine tune the calibration and protect the engine and drivetrain. Engine load (boost), fuel enrichment, and ignition timing are all susceptible to changes in DAM/Octane.  In addition to utilizing the factory DAM system, we have also implemented safeties based on both engine oil and intake air temperatures.  If either is outside of ideal ranges, power will be reduced to protect the engine components.  These safety features are NOT used in the stock or Stage0 calibration data but are implemented across the rest of our OTS Maps.  More on those systems can be found here: Subaru Dynamic Advance.

Power Gains

On to the good stuff!  Below you will find a dyno chart that displays power output of a totally stock car as well as with our Stage 1 calibrations.  Increased power under the curve is substantial for both 91 and 93 octane variants of the Stage 1 calibration.   Peak increases are found where the motor makes its maximum output for torque or horsepower.  Max increases represent the single largest delta between stock and tuned. Average increases  represent the overall added power under the curve.

This part is legal for sale and use on Emissions Controlled Vehicles in all 50 states when used in accordance with the manufacturer’s application guide because it has a California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number: D-660-237

Outback & Legacy Stage 1 Power Packages

Another addition to our catalog of Outback upgrades are all new Stage Power Packages! The COBB Stage Packages take all the guesswork out of modifying your Subaru Outback XT.  COBB Stage 1 Power Packages combine the tried and true Accessport with our reusable High Flow Panel Filter.  The COBB High Flow Filter is compatible with all COBB Off The Shelf Maps and ensures proper filtration while maximizing airflow of the factory airbox.

Custom Tuning Support

Subaru Accesstuner Pro HL has also received an update to add custom tuning support for the Outback and Legacy.  This means any of our Subaru Protuners can create a custom calibration for use with your Accessport.

  1. Will the new Cobb Port for my 24 Outback XT provide the CVT temp reading or how could I set it up to monitor temp so I don’t overheat the CVT?

    • Hey Albert, yes! CVT Temperature is a monitor that is available to be viewed live and also logged with the Accessport.

  2. On the CVT WRX page, the dyno graph shows a significant loss in power and torque across the pull compared to the MT drivetrain. When looking at the data here for the CVT Outback and Legacy models, it looks like most of that drivetrain loss has either been eliminated or reduced to a significant degree. Is that the result of a better understanding or difference in the driveline in the OB and LXT or just a different method of measuring the engine output data?

    • While our air filter DOES flow more than the factory filter, the car’s hydrocarbon trap does negate a lot of the benefit. You still get the added benefit of a high quality, reusable filter though!

  3. I have a 2024 OUTBACK WILDERNESS. Is your device compatible with? Also, hp is rated at 260. How much more hp can I expect from this accessory product?

    • Hi there! Yes, we do support the 2024 Outback Wilderness. You can see in the post our dyno chart comparing a stock run to runs with our Stage 1 Maps. Keep in mind, this is power measured at the wheels so it will be slightly lower than what the manufacturer’s power rating is for the motor.

    • Warranty questions are always tricky. Can Subaru flat-out void your warranty? No – that is protected against by the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. What they CAN do is deny warranty coverage of a failure if they deem the failure to be directly caused by the tune. You do have the ability to Uninstall the Accessport and return the ECU to its factory settings. We do not do anything during that process to hide that the Accessport has been installed. If they dig far enough, they could probably find something.

All of that said, we feel that our tunes are still plenty safe and within the limits of the engine and driveline. Our shop and employee-owned Outbacks have been absolutely thrashed during development and haven’t skipped a beat.

  4. What I really miss is the zippy response of my 2013 2.5 non-turbo Legacy, I now have a ’23 Legacy XT and find myself waiting around for the car to go. Will this help? The graph looks like the low end torque is lower with the ecu mod. Am I reading the graph wrong? Thanks!

    • Hey there! The sub-3000 RPM (ish) difference in power you are seeing is largely due to small differences in ramp-up for those specific dyno pulls. The calibration changes definitely help the car feel more peppy in the mid-low range however there is an inherent “delay” in response from pedal input to the engine’s reaction that isn’t really something you can tune out. With the RPMs that low, boost response can feel a little bit laggy, something you don’t have to worry about in a non-turbo car.

  5. Is the boost provided off the OBDII port for the 2025 Legacy XT Sport? In other words is it a plug and play to get boost provided on the gauges?

    • Hi Mike! If I’m understanding your question correctly, I believe the answer is “yes!”. The 2025 Legacy Sport is supported by the Accessport and installation of our Off The Shelf Maps really is as simple as plugging the device into the car’s OBDII port and following the on-screen directions. Once “Installed”, the Accessport can display gauges/monitors while you are driving and Boost is definitely one of those included monitors.

    • Hi there! Our Outback tuning support is specific to the “XT” and “Wilderness” trims that use the turbocharged 2.4L motors.
