End of Accessport Version 2 Service Support

blog-apv2-rip

Nearly 5 years ago we introduced the Accessport V3 which replaced a second iteration (V2b) of the Version 2 Accessport.  With over double the processing potential, the V3 Accessport has allowed us to add a host of new features not possible with the V2 hardware.  Even though many of our new features are not applicable to the Version 2 Accessport, we have continued to offer service and repair for customers still using them.  With our supply of Version 2 parts running low, we have decided to terminate service support for these Accessports.

After March 31, 2018 COBB Tuning will no longer offer hardware repair services for Version 2 (or V2b) Accessports.

Users who experience issues with their devices after this date will be given an opportunity to upgrade to a V3 Accessport to replace the problematic Version 2.  Luckily this transition is seamless as we have the ability to transfer custom tunes(if they are able to be recovered) and guarantee compatibility with existing instances of Accesstuner software.  Accessport Manager, Accesstuner, and Accesstuner Pro will continue to support existing Version 2 Accessports for the foreseeable future.

Don’t want to chance it?  We don’t blame you.

This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of our V2 to V3 Trade-In Program!  This program essentially gets you into a V3 Accessport for 50% OFF!!  Doing so will guarantee you don’t lose custom tune files or experience downtime should your Version 2 Accessport fail and need to be shipped to us.  Look for specific V2 to V3 Trade-In eligible Accessports on the COBB Tuning website.

This is so aggravating. I have avoided doing the V3 trade in because I have literally owned 5 Subarus (still own one), and I have a BMW 335i which have ALL used Cobb Accessports. I literally have spent over $3300 in just accessports and over $10,000 in supporting Cobb parts. I don’t want to spend anymore for something that just looks pretty.

Hey Nicolas, we definitely understand that. Just to be clear, if you Accessports are continuing to function just fine there is no reason to panic. We will never render them useless with a firmware update or anything like that. They will remain compatible with OTS maps and Accesstuner software for the foreseeable future.

I use the Accesstuner Race software with my V2 AP on a 2006 STI. Do I lose this ability upgrading to V3 AP?

I also own a V3 AP for a 2018 WRX

Best regards

    Hi Philip,

Nope, if you upgrade from a V2 to a V3 for the same car. We can add the V2 serial number as a backup serial number on the V3. That way, Accesstuner will still technically be making maps for your V2, but the V3 will be able to recognize the old serial number and use the maps. The only downside is that it will not be able to live connect. So you will have to make your changes, then save the file, then flash it with the V3 as a separate step. Otherwise, it will all be the same. Just make sure you contact our support team: support@cobbtuning.com

I’ve got a bricked ECU with a married v2 AP for my speed 3. Recently replaced the ECU and am currently trying to get the other ECU to work to the point where I can unmarry it. If I’m unable to get it an I pretty much just out of luck?

    Hey Mike,

If it currently works, yes – you’re good. We will not be forcing any sort of an update to render the V2 non-functional.
