Improved and Expanded Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift for Subaru AccessPORT

COBB Tuning is pleased to announce the availability of Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift* for all Subaru turbocharged manual transmission equipped vehicles. Launch Control limits engine RPM to a user-set value when launching to build boost and increase launch consistency. Flat-Foot Shift allows the user to maintain wide-open-throttle during gear changes, keeping partial boost between shifts and improving acceleration post-shift. This release of Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift addresses isolated issues with the prior version and expands support to additional vehicles.** Please note that using Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift (LC/FFS) can be abusive to the engine, clutch, transmission, axles and differentials. If you are willing to accept these risks, read on!

This release of Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift now supports the following applications:

Easy Implementation and Installation
To enable Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift on your Subaru, download AccessPORT Manager version 2.0.1.5 or greater to update the AccessPORT firmware to version 1.6.4.0-1645 or greater. Stage1 and Stage2 v3.00 Launch Control enabled maps are included in the firmware. In addition, all of the maps in our Subaru AccessPORT Map Database have been updated to v3.00 and are available for download. Simply select the v3.00 map that suits your power modifications, Reflash the v3.00 map as your ECU base map (not Realtime map) and configure the Launch Control and Flat-Foot Shift RPM settings to your preferences using the AccessPORT by navigating to Tune > Adjustments > Launch Control or Tune > Adjustments > Flat-Foot Shift.

ProTuned Map Conversion
Customers using ProTuned maps have two options for converting their map to enable Launch Control. These maps can be converted to a Launch Control enabled map using our online map conversion utility or your Pro Tuner may be willing to update the map for you. To use the online map conversion utility, click the link, click on the “Choose File” button, select the map on your computer to be converted and click the “Submit” button. Depending on the settings of your web browser, the new LC/FFS enabled map file will either be automatically downloaded or you will be prompted to initiate the download (and choose a download directory). Using AccessPORT Manager, load the new LC/FFS enabled map to your AccessPORT and you are ready to flash this map to your ECU. Note: This utility does not unlock ProTuner maps for use in AccessTUNER Race.

Custom Map Conversion
Customers using AccessTUNER Race maps also have two options for converting custom maps to enable Launch Control. Launch Control can be enabled map using our online map conversion utility or the map can be opened and saved using Subaru AccessTUNER Race version 1.9.1.0-1695 or greater. 1. My car whas pro tune and now LC and FFS are not working correctly,It seems that every time a use it, it pulls time and the car will only boost up to the wg spring rate wich is 14 lbs.the car is tune for 28 29 lbs. if I run the car not using these features, the car will boost up to 28 lbs. I talk to tuner and he tlod me he doesnt know why is doing this.He recomends not to use it, ha ha imagine that, I drag race the car, I got 545 awhp and to end up with a feature that I cant use, come on..

    • Have you been able to take any datalogs while attempting to use LC or FFS? If you have, we may be able to take a look at them to determine what is going on. Send an email over to [email protected] and we’ll take a look! – Marshall@COBB

  2. According to my tuner, his maps always have these features enabled. However when I use the AccessPort 2.0 to modify the RPM for FFS and LC, nothing changes, still limits at red line. I went to use the utility in case it wasn’t enabled and it spits out a map that is not usable, no base map or some error. I did the updates as recommended to no avail. What could I be missing? The tune was done before AccessPort 3.0 came out, not sure exactly when, ( The previous owner had it tuned), could the actual maps be too old? Without these features enabled?

    • Nick, it’s definitely possible that the map was created with a version of our software that pre-dated those features. If that is the case, you’ll need to have whoever created the Protune to open that map in a newer version of Accesstuner and re-save it.

  3. How do i get the LC and FFS map on my v2 ap for a 2012 Subaru wrx. I’ve searched everywhere and cannot find it.

    • Hey Justin, be sure to use Accessport Manager to confirm the Accessport is using the most up-to-date firmware (1.6.8.0-9792) and OTS Map version 3.00 or newer. Once confirmed, you should see options for adjusting LC and FFS in the Tune -> Adjustments menu on the Accessport.

  4. I’ve been trying to use launch control and FFS since I got the car tuned back in April to no avail. I follow the process exactly but can’t get LC to activate. Any ideas? I’m updated to the latest firmware and the maps state that these options are enabled. I’ve tried changing the RPM limits for each and still nothing. I’ve been dying to try out LC specifically but can’t get it to activate. Please halp!

    • Hi Tony,

FLOOR the gas pedal. If you ease into the throttle, it will not activate. If that does not work, give us a call at 866-922-3059 and we can help you troubleshoot.
