Ford Focus 2013 – 2014 Map Slot Fix Update

The recent firmware release for the Ford platform contained a minor bug specific to the 2013 to 2014 model year Focus ST.  This bug may have caused some users to start the vehicle with a different map slot than what they had intended.  This was usually encountered by users that experienced the economy mode slot instead of the performance mode.  The COBB Engineering Team has now solved the issue.  A simple update to the new firmware (1.7.3.0-12830) and map change (v401) will resolve the bug.  You can run your Focus ST knowing the map slot you turned the car off with will be retained the next time it is started.  If your Accessport is already installed, you can use the “Restore OTS Maps” feature after the firmware update to avoid having to download the new maps from the website.

  1. I have downloaded the newest update and I am currently running a custom tune from my pro tuner. I am STILL having this glitch where sometimes when I get in the car it is in the eco slot when I did not put it there. It happens just about every time I get out of the car for a short period of time (aka dropping son off to daycare every morning, or getting gas). This is getting really frustrating. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I have checked several times and it keeps telling my that my AP is “up to date” but the problem is still there. I just assumed you guys hadn’t fixed the issue but now I see this and am really confused.

    • Hey Brandon, terribly sorry to hear you are still experiencing those issues. Please email the symptoms you are experiencing to our Customer Support team ([email protected]) or give us a call at 1-866-922-3059. As far as we know, those issues have been addressed so it may be something simple we can address.

  2. After bringing it up to my tuner he changed something and the problem never came back. Now I do have one question. A buddy of mine updated to the newest firmware 4.01 and now none of his tunes will work. Is there a way to revert back to the older firmware??

    • There is not. Was he using a custom tune? If so, he’ll simply need to have the tuner re-save the map in the newest version of Accesstuner. If using an OTS map, he -may- have to uninstall and re-install using the latest map files contained within firmware.
